Care

Pre Care

  • No sun or tanning bed exposure for 30 days pre and post procedure. If you show up for your appointment with a sunburn your appointment will be canceled, and your deposit will be forfeited.

  • Any clients taking Accutane must be off the medication for at least 1 year.

  • All Botox or Filler procedures cannot be done within 3 weeks of your brow appointment, before and after.

  • Retinol, Tretinoin, Vitamin C products, and chemical exfoliants (such as a chemical peel, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, aha/bha) should not be used 30 days prior to your appointment. If you are going to use these products after healing, please make sure they are kept away from your forehead since many products have cellular communication and can travel to your brows. Potential risks are pigment fading.

  • If you get your brows shaped, waxed, or tinted I ask that you do so no later than 5 days before having them tattooed.

  • No blood thinners are to be taken within 48 hours of the procedure. This includes Vitamin E, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Niacin, and Fish Oil.

  • No alcohol the day before and no caffeine the day of your appointment.

Post Care

Day 1

Every couple of hours dampen a cotton pad with water, gently press your brows to remove excess bodily fluids, and pat dry. NO SOAP. NO OINTMENT. Keep the area clean and dry for the first day to help retain as much pigment as possible and to minimize scabbing.

Day 2-14

After a light rinsing of the brows with luke warm water every morning, you may pat them dry and start applying a small breathable layer of the ointment that is provided to you and reapply as needed. Visibly, the ointment should look like chapstick on your brows, not lipgloss. Apply using either a cotton tip or clean finger in a dabbing motion, NO RUBBING. Avoid sweating, saunas, swimming pools, working out, hot tubs, long hot showers, rivers, lakes, oceans, and putting your face under a direct stream of water. Do not apply makeup to or around the brow area until all the flakes have gone, not following this rule can result in infections or changes to the pigment color. Stay away from tanning beds, direct sunlight, facials, and lash services while healing. DO NOT pick, scratch, exfoliate, or itch your flaking brows!

Healing Phases

Directly after the appointment and for the following 7-10 days your pigment will appear darker/sharper in shape/bold because of scabbing, this is normal. You may also experience some redness and swelling. Your scabs will begin to shed for about five days. It’s important that you do not pick or scratch during this period as you could lose a chunk of pigment prematurely, resulting in an empty patch. Once your brows have fully healed, they may have a muted appearance, this will gradually diminish over the next couple of weeks as the pigment slowly resurfaces.

Signs and symptoms of infection, including, but not limited to, are persistent redness, swelling, tenderness of the procedure site, rash at procedure site, elevated body temperature, or purulent drainage from the procedure site. If you show signs of infection, please consult with your physician immediately.

Onward Care

After your skin is healed you are welcome to freely cleanse the brow area, apply makeup, and use physical exfoliants if you wish. Chemical exfoliants & skin lightening products (chemical peels, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, aha/bha, vitamin c, retinol, tretinoin) promote pigment loss, so these products should be avoided on the treated area. Continue to minimize sun exposure to your face. Using sunscreen on your brow tattoo every time you’ll be spending time outdoors is a must, especially for fair skin! Not being mindful about sun exposure can turn your tattoo gray over time. Lasers on treated areas can cause the pigment to turn black and swell. If you’re having an MRI, advise the health care worker of any permanent makeup procedures.
